Joakim -
I think you're looking in the right direction... selling something of high value or sophisticated software takes more than just a landing page and checkout. You need to build relationship with your customers. So like you said offering something in return for contact info is a good step, then you can follow up with more info/demo/etc... to get closer to a sale

good luck :)

Nice series of really qualified Landing Page knowledge, Dave.
I saw that you asked for different call-to-action options at Digital Point. Did you get any relevant feedback about, what kind of CTA works out best?
I am marketing serviced software and can't just place a Buy Now option as the sales process is a little complex. I think offering White Papers or a Case Study may be better for this purpose. Do you have any comments on that?

Yes, you're right, I would hope at the very least you should be able to change out headlines, images, and colors to test.

I make most of my landing pages, mainly because I'm a control freak, and know if I outsource, I would change it up anyways.

Finding a designer who can both design and understand landing page essentials as a marketer is not easy. You need to split test your designers as well :)

Either way, learning some basic HTML to do some simple tests is something every marketer should know

Great stuff as usual Dave, but I have3 a question:

Obviously, testing and tweaking your landing pages is essential to maximize conversions... but what if you're hiring designers to create the LP for you? Asking your designer for 20 LP designs could get quite expensive. How important is knowing graphic design to create LPs to being a successful marketer?
