Runway LandingIf you’re serious about doing affiliate marketing for a living you will at some point have to begin developing your own landing pages. Why is this beneficial? One word: Control. You can control and test the copy, headlines, bullet points, images, call to action, etc… but most importantly you can control relevancy. To Google this is king.

Why is relevancy important? Google will do everything it can to protect its user NOT the advertiser. Throw in a bunch of irrelevant keywords and point them to your landing page and Google will charge you $1,$5, or even $10 minimum bid to play the game.

Here are 3 things to keep in mind when crafting a landing page:

  • Relevancy and Original Content
  • Transparent
  • Navigability

Relevancy and Original Content
Your landing page should be relevant to your keyword as well as your ad. It should also deliever what was promised in your ad. Did you say “Free Report” in your ad? The user should have no problem finding this once clicked through. Also the content on your page should be unique.

Transparent
Be open and upfront about what you are offering and what your business is about. Provide a privacy policy if you ask for users’ information and advertisements should be distinct from the rest of your site.

Navigability
Direct and short path from your ad’s product or service from your landing page. Load time is crucial in a landing page … more on this later. Absolutely no pop-ups, Google hates this.

These are three simple requests to make your life a whole lot easier with Google. If you want more details about this, you can read Google’s complete Landing page quality guidelines here
